Safe ministry
Safe for everyone.
Church should be one of the safest places a child, a young person or a vulnerable adult can be. Here is what we do to make that true, and what to do if something is wrong.
Our commitment
We are committed to being a church where children, young people and vulnerable adults are safe, and where concerns are taken seriously and acted on. That is not a slogan. It works out in three concrete ways.
-
Screened
Every leader who works with children or young people holds a current NSW Working With Children Check, and we verify it.
-
Trained
All leaders complete Safe Ministry training and sign up to our code of conduct before they start, and refresh it regularly.
-
Accountable
We follow the Presbyterian Church of NSW's Breaking the Silence policies for preventing and responding to abuse, and we report what we are required to report.
Raising a concern
If you are worried about the safety of anyone at our church, or about the conduct of a leader, please speak up. You will be listened to, and you will not be in trouble for raising it.
Talk to our Safe Ministry Contact
A trained person in our church whose job is to listen, take your concern seriously and make sure it is acted on. You can go to them instead of the minister or any other leader.
Go straight to the denomination
The Presbyterian Church of NSW Conduct Protocol Unit handles concerns about conduct in any of its churches and operates independently of our congregation. You can also ask them for an independent Contact Person to walk with you.

In an emergency
If someone is in immediate danger, call 000. You do not need to tell us first.
Questions about any of this?
Parents and carers are welcome to ask how Kids Church and Youth Group are run, who the leaders are, and what our procedures look like in practice. Just ask on a Sunday or get in touch.
