About us
What we believe.
In short, this is what we hold to. It is what Christians everywhere have believed for two thousand years.
-
God
There is one God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, who made everything and rules over it all.
-
The Bible
The Bible is God's own word: trustworthy, and the final say on what we believe and how we live.
-
People
Every person is made in God's image and matters to him. Every one of us has also turned away from him, and we can't fix that ourselves.
-
Jesus
Jesus is God's Son, fully God and fully human. He lived the life we couldn't, died in our place and rose bodily from the dead. He rules now and will return.
-
Rescue
Forgiveness and new life come only through trusting Jesus. It is a gift of grace, not something we earn.
-
The Spirit
God's Spirit lives in everyone who trusts Jesus, helps us understand the Bible and gives gifts to build up the church.
-
The Church
The church is God's people gathered around Jesus and his word, and sent out to share him with the world.
What does "Presbyterian" mean?
We are part of the Presbyterian Church of Australia in NSW, an evangelical and reformed denomination. Three words that need unpacking.
Evangelical
We hold that people are saved through faith in Jesus Christ, and that the Bible is God's trustworthy word.
Reformed
We stand in the stream of the early church and the Reformation, summarised in the Westminster Confession of Faith. Our leaders are required to uphold those teachings, though people in the congregation come from all sorts of backgrounds.
Presbyterian
Describes how we are governed: by elders elected by the congregation, who form a Session. Local churches group into presbyteries, which meet yearly as a General Assembly.

If you are exploring whether any of this is true, start with who Jesus is. If you are a Christian looking for a church, come along on a Sunday and ask us anything.
